Dog Health:  Take Charge Or Pay The Price

Dog health and human health have a lot in common. We both need to maintain a healthy diet, avoid stress, and exercise in order to enjoy good health. When something interferes with our natural defenses, we both get sick and count on our immune system to kick in and get us out of trouble. Provided it's strong enough, of course.

Good Dog Health Starts with High-Quality Dog Nutrition

Since I switched to natural dog food, I've stopped worrying about dog health. Why? Well, I'm feeling better than ever, and best of all I'm no longer itching all over. Did you know that the chemical preservatives and food coloring used in commercially processed dog food and kibble can be responsible for your dog's allergies, as well as vomiting and diarrhea, and a whole lot worse?

Has Chester's bad breath (not to mention his bouts of flatulence) become a joke among your friends? Are the neighborhood kids calling him 'flea bag' because of his constant scratching? You might want to switch to a natural diet in order to provide Chester with the nutrients his immune system needs to keep him healthy.

Many ailing dogs suffering from allergies or cancer have seen a dramatic improvement in their condition after being fed a special homemade diet.  And don't forget my herbal solutions to the top 25 most common dog health problems, from allergies, arthritis, flatulence, hair balls, right through to diabetes, heart or liver disease, and gastrointestinal disorders such as chronic vomiting or diarrhea.

And don't forget to check out my healthy nutritious recipes for a dog or cat suffering from allergy or cancer.  A healthy diet supports your dog's immune system to help prevent disease and encourage recovery when he's feeling under the weather.  Sort of like chicken soup when you've got a cold.

Prevent Cancer, Top Dog Health Problem for the Senior Pet

Top Dog Health Means ExerciseCancer is the most dreaded dog health problem facing senior canines: more than fifty percent of pets over the age of ten will develop cancer. Though this is shattering news if you own an older pet, there is a lot you can do to try and beat the odds. But you must resolve to take charge.

A healthy diet is crucial in helping your dog prevent cancer. A dog with cancer should have a special diet so that you avoid feeding cancer cells. Special care should be taken to avoid tap water that contains fluoride and chlorine. Chlorine encourages the production of free radicals which cause cellular damage, while fluoride helps the absorption of aluminum which shows up in the brains of Alzheimer's victims.

Regular exercise will help your pet release endorphins and counter stress. Discuss his vaccination program with your vet: older pets are likely to need less vaccines, if any at all. Supplements will also help support his immune system against cancer. But above all, early detection is crucial when it comes to cancer. Learning how to examine your pet weekly for early signs of cancer could save his life. Don't wait till it's too late!

Canine Health:  Your Concerns Are My Concerns

Stress plays a powerful role in canine health. Have you ever noticed how a dog mirrors its owner's state of mind? You're in a playful mood, we're ready to play. You're feeling down, we're down too. Your stress can spill over to affect us.

You'll be glad to know that there is something you can do to help relieve some of that stress. It's called accupressure and, unlike accupuncture (ouch!), it can be safely performed at home. Scientific studies have shown that pressing accupressure points on my skin can release endorphins which relieve pain by restoring a balanced flow of energy.

Happy Dog, Healthy Dog:  That Goes For You Too

As my way of saying thanks for that accupressure session, I'll take you for a walk in the park.  It will do wonders for our stress, plus it will help keep us both in good shape.  We'll get some fresh air, I'll meet other canines, you'll chat with their parents, we'll have a few good laughs ... and if it helps keep dog arthritis at bay, I'm all for it!

Didn't I tell you that we both have a lot in common?  Now let's go for a walk.  We both need to stretch our legs and de-stress ...  But before we go, do me a favor and go check out my Vet Secrets online course.  You'll learn all about:

          . which dog food to feed your pooch, and which to avoid;
          . what you can do at home to help restore canine health;
          . how to deal naturally with the most common dog health problems;
          . how to care for your dog; and
          . how to examine him to detect early signs of problems.

You do love your Chester, don't you?  So please don't let him down.  Take charge and make canine health a priority before it's too late.  He's counting on you ...
